Undisputed 2010 submissions

:)"When you were playing UFC 2009, you probably remember loosing a flurry of strikes on opponents and shooting to a takedown pretty fondly. The opposite side of that coin was remembering how it felt to have your fighter breathing heavy, dropping his gloves, and getting rocked after you overexerted. Stamina management has been one of the skills distinguishing one tier of Undisputed gamers from the rest. This week we wanted to help bridge that gap and give you some tips on how to respect stamina, which will in turn respect you.
Last year, the success of a submission was mainly dependent on a player's submission offense vs. his rivals submission defense. When a player with sub offense through the roof took on a player who had a relatively low defense, there was a great chance that the weaker grappler would end up tapping out. In Undisputed 2010, we decided to add a game changer into that mix: stamina and energy.
Think of stamina as your players gas tank and energy as your players gas. The more damage you take, the smaller your stamina (gas tank) gets. The more punches, kicks, and takedowns you throw, the more energy (gas) you use. If you went too hard or too fast, your player is at risk of getting fatigued. So how does this translate into a deeper submission system?
This year when you're being submitted and you have a relatively high energy level, no matter the size of your stamina bar, you're going to be conferred a defense bonus. Of course, a very low energy level is gonna hurt you when you try to escape an armbar, or, dare we say, the gogoplata.
However, if you're taking care to reserve your energy level and you see your opponent drop his gloves, start moving slowly, and become fatigued, you're going to gain a bonus to your sub offense and he's going to suffer a debuff when you take him to the mat. You might even throw in a sub switch to throw him off if your bringing your game.
Including these bonuses and debuffs in 2010 is going to bring an awesome level of realism and balance to your ground game, as players with a moderate submission defense and high energy can defend against what could have been an unescapable tap out last year. Employing the strategy that fighters like Damian Maia and Frank Mir bring to the Octagon was something we wanted to provide fans and newcomers alike. We look forward to seeing what you guys think when May 25th rolls around!
are these guys crazy or think that everyone's flat out stupid!!! the 2nd paragraph states that "submissions were mainly based on your sub off and your opponents sub def", which is totally wrong... subs TOTALLY depended on stamina, the only time u could pull a "flash sub" was if u reversed a wrestling/judo slam... eddie sanchez could sub big nog easily if his stamina's low, the only new thing about this system is the energy meter (another hud bar, great)
everything sounds promising about the game so far but this sub system, it sounds even worse than last yr... only being able to shine is a HUGE turn-off for me, i just hope im wrong once the game is released|||Stamina & Energy a gamechanger? Well they based submissions off Stamina last yr & it sucked, but it depends on how well the energy gage works. Either way I hate the idea of being able to attempt a sub with no resistance from your opponent. Same thing with those slams, get the clinch & its a automatic takedown with no resistance.|||

Energy gage is the Stamina bar. He was only saying that the current maximum capacity would be your gas tank, and the meter going up and down as you use your moves, would be the energy meter.. but its just the stamina meter.
Anyway it is exactly the same as last year, only difference being that apparently now stamina will make some difference whereas last year you could keep defending a submission sometimes even if you had no stamina left, you could still get out.
As far as the whole Shining thing goes, I dont like it much either.. It only shows lack of imagination that they would use such a * thing again. And for their flash subs, I will have to see how those will work. But it wouldnt surprise me if its a bad game mechanic aswell. :)|||Pressing R thumbstick to attempt a sub at any point on the ground is just stupid. Like wheres the ability to block submission attempts. Thats one reason I started to dislike the stamina sub thing, If they see you have low staminia they just have to press a button to attempt a sub & theres nothing I can do about it.|||Yeah the ground game really hasn't changed by the looks of it. Just extra subs.
Why even bother having extra subs when it makes no difference whatsoever.|||now u can posture/mount up in any position. like How alot of the fights have been finished from side control ground and pound lately. in 2009 u could barely do any damage from side control.
but is does suk that subs are just a push of a button. if it was that easy than guys can just turn it on in a real match and put the other guy in danger all day. thats one thing i hated about 09, if you're on top all your friend has to do is click the sub and that would get me off of him if i power out. plus i would just choose to come off if he's just clicking all day. Sure there's the shiner but...|||

that is one good thing that they've said about the ground game so far, but i was mainly referring to the submission system in general, it sounds so far like its exactly like last yr's game which (esp in the beginning when the demo was released) was one of there biggest problems... they did state that there will be more ground positions and that strikes will do more damage (u can be ko'd from anywhere), which sounds promising but the sub sytem the have SUCKS bad and they really needed to reform that, which from the sound of it they didnt do at all :)
